family in spring woodland setting

A true sight to behold awaits you each Spring when you explore Newhailes Estate in Musselburgh. This National Trust for Scotland property is a real jewel lying to the east of Edinburgh, just waiting to be explored. A quick wander through the trees from the entrance and the pathway is bordered on both sides with glorious, bluebell carpeted woodland.

There’s something about wild spaces that brings out the most natural, curious moments in little ones, and this two hour session was just that. It was heartwarming to see these two wee girls enjoying each others company, even if it was just for a brief moment. I particularly cherished capturing the bond between the elder and her daddy, like leaning on a fallen tree trunk next to each other in exactly the same way, chatting away! Very cute indeed.

What I love most about photographing families in nature is how unposed everything becomes. The moments flow so effortlessly - whether it’s a spontaneous cuddle, a little hand reaching up for mum’s, or a burst of laughter when dad lifts someone high into the air.

If you’ve ever dreamed of capturing your family in a similar setting this Spring - Send me a DM and I can help you take the next step!
